Most of you have probably already heard of this by now, but just in case I’m the only source for your Mac news (and if I am, you really should start reading some other sites. 🙂 ), I should follow-up my earlier post. Apple has officially announced their back-to-school deal, and it’s not as lucrative as past years: Any college student student, soon-to-be student, parent of a student, or faculty member who purchases a qualifying Mac (looks like the Mac Mini and MacPro aren’t included) Between now and September 20 will get a $100 iTunes gift card. And I hear that Best Buy is going to match that deal, in case you like shopping in stores with less inventory and less knowledgeable staff who will try cramming a credit card, membership card and protection plan down your throat.
To sum up, this looks like as good a time as any to purchase a MacBook Pro or iMac, but I’d still wait until July for a new MacBook, MacBook Air, Mac Mini or MacPro.
